ScaryOak has been around a long time, I began my career in electronics in the USAF back in the beginning of the 1980s, where I dove headfirst into Metrology, (the science of measurement).
While in the USAF I specialized in working on the hardest stuff nobody wanted to touch, from old tube gear to land based satellite calibration systems and everything in between.
After the USAF I worked for the military industrial complex for a few years, consulting for companies on metrology and general electronics troubleshooting, etc.
It only took me a few years to conclude I am not a good fit for the ‘cog in the wheel’ of corporate life, so I switched focus to general aviation and learned all about avionics, GPS (at the inception of consumer GPS), all sorts of interesting things.
After general aviation I was fortunate to spend the better part of a decade with one of the original Silicon Valley CEOs in a very small company (a dozen of us), making Windows based test gear for major telecom companies and the federal government, this experience helped me in both my personal and professional life.
All this time I was still building tube amps and effects, but only as a hobby. It seems that every place I have lived I have been a tech at a local music store and over the years I have built/repaired a lot of gear for a lot of the musicians in the area, from beginners to professional musicians.
The last 14+ years I have been working for a recording gear manufacturer, top shelf gear (many consider the best available) used in the most demanding places which, needless to say- HAS to work right the first time, and every time. It was always a great fit as my tendencies are for “the best achievable outcome” for everything I do so it was great that this company has the same credo ( I do consults from time to time for this company, they are still very active making great gear)
After this big shift in the world recently, I took it upon myself to make the jump to producing my own line of effects and utility tools for musicians full time- so January of 2021 I left the company and went 100% on my own and have since been designing, prototyping, building, and selling my take on of gear to the world.
I have many circuits in the works, I have been saving up for many years, some are my takes on established circuits, some are unique, crazy ideas that have never been done, keep in touch as I should be releasing new gear on a regular basis for the foreseeable future, lots and lots of cool things are on the way
